KINGS COUNTY AREA REGISTERED NURSE'S LICENSE SUSPENDED
KINGS COUNTY – At the request of the Board of Registered Nursing, a Kings County Superior Court Judge today issued an order prohibiting Jeffer Sabino from practicing as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner for the duration of his criminal proceeding. Sabino was recently arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting female patients over a two-year period at Avenal Community Health Center.
The Department of Consumer Affairs' Division of Investigation Central Valley Field Office worked with the Avenal Police Department and the Kings County District Attorney's Office to investigate and arrest Sabino last month. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Sabino posed a threat to patient safety and should not continue to practice as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.
"Patients put trust in their health care professionals," said Louise Bailey, Executive Officer of the Board of Registered Nursing. "It's devastating to hear what happened to these women. The Board will take whatever action necessary to protect consumers."
"We are happy we were able to suspend his license and keep him from possibly harming other patients," said Division of Investigation Chief Michael Gomez.
The Board will pursue its license revocation case after the criminal matter is resolved.
