Meet the CBA Members
Marshal Oldman, Esq., President
Mr. Oldman was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in March 2007, and has served as both secretary/treasurer and vice-president of the CBA. He previously served as chair of the Trust and Estate's Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and chair of the Legislative Monitoring Committee of that section. Mr. Oldman is currently a partner in the trust and probate firm Oldman, Cooley, Sallus, Gold, Birnberg & Coleman.
Leslie LaManna, CPA, Vice President
Ms. LaManna was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in January 2007. She previously served as secretary/treasurer of the CBA and president of the San Diego Chapter of the California Society of CPAs. Ms. LaManna also served as adjunct professor in accounting for the University of California, San Diego Extension. She is currently a partner in the public accounting firm of LaManna & LaManna, CPA.
Michael M. Savoy, CPA, Secretary/Treasurer
Mr. Savoy was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in December 2010, and serves on various CBA committees. He is the immediate past chairman of the board of the Americas Region of BKR International, a member of the finance committee, executive committee and member of the board of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan Association. Mr. Savoy is managing director at Gumbiner Savett Inc, and was previously a partner at Savoy & Colin.
Sarah "Sally" Anderson, CPA
Ms. Anderson was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in May 2007. She serves on various CBA committees and was CBA Vice President before being elected to serve as President in November 2010. She is a retired Ernst & Young assurance partner and served as the managing partner of the Orange County and Riverside offices. She has been involved in numerous community and philanthropic organizations. Ms. Anderson is currently the Chair of the Board of the Pacific Symphony, a member of the University of California, Irvine CEO Roundtable, a founding member of the Women's Philanthropy Fund of Orange County's United Way, and the Treasurer of the Pacific Club.
Diana Bell
Ms. Bell was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by the Senate Rules Committee in September 2009, and serves on various CBA committees. She previously served as a Senior Vice President for the Hewlett-Packard Company, and is a director for the Northern California Girls Scouts, the Peralta Community Colleges Foundation Board in Oakland, California, and on the Dean's Advisory Board for Michigan State University's College of Natural Science. Ms. Bell also serves as Board Chairman for the Imani Community Church in Oakland, California, and is on the Advisory Board of Monitoring Division, Inc.
Alicia Berhow
Ms. Berhow was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by the Speaker of the Assembly in February 2011. She currently serves as Director of Workforce Development with the Orange County Business Council. She previously served as Senior Field Representative for Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, as well as Sales Administrator for Miller Brewing Company in Irvine. Ms. Berhow is a board member for the Anaheim Workforce Investment Board and Orange Children & Parents Together.
Michelle R. Brough, ESQ.
Ms. Brough was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in November 2008, and serves on various CBA committees. She currently serves as counsel to Brandes Investment Partners, and previously served as senior advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Financial Institutions for the U.S. Department of Treasury, as well as counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Ms. Brough also previously served as a planning commissioner for the city of Dana Point, and is a member of the Orange County Chapter of the California Women's Leadership Association.
Donald A. Driftmier, CPA
Mr. Driftmier was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in May 2004. He serves on various CBA committees, held the office of Vice President from 2006 to 2007, and also served as President from 2007 to 2008. He previously served in the United States Army and was previously a partner with Vavrinek, Trine, Day & Co., LLP. Mr. Driftmier serves on the boards of two dozen other philanthropic and business organizations, and is a guest lecturer at various universities.
Herschel T. Elkins, ESQ.
Mr. Elkins was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by the Senate Rules Committee in September 2008, and serves on various CBA committees. He previously headed the Consumer Law Section in the California Attorney General's Office before retiring as a Special Assistant Attorney General. Mr. Elkins also served on various task forces and investigative committees on consumer protection matters and drafted many of California's consumer protection statutes.
Laurence (Larry) Kaplan
Mr. Kaplan was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by the Speaker of the Assembly in March 2011. He is an independent management consultant specializing in assisting non-profits, elected officials and public agencies. He has worked extensively in the non-profit sector, and previously served as Los Angeles Area Director of the Trust for Public Land, Southern California Regional Director for Senator Barbara Boxer, and Chief of Staff for Councilman Mike Woo.
Louise Kirkbride
Ms. Kirkbride was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in March 2008, and serves on various CBA committees. She founded Broad Daylight and Answer Systems, and previously served as marketing manager for Tektronix - CAE Systems. Ms. Kirkbride is a member of the board of trustees at the California Institute of Technology and also serves as a board member on the Contractors' State License Board.
Kitak (K.T.) Leung, CPA
Mr. Leung was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in December 2010, and serves on various CBA committees. He currently serves as principal of Leung Accountancy Corporation. He previously served as manager of several investment groups, and as principal of Leung and Wong Accountancy Group, and Leung and Associates. Mr. Leung also serves on the boards of other various philanthropic and business organizations.
Manuel J. Ramirez, CPA
Mr. Ramirez was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in May 2007. He serves on various CBA committees, held the office of Vice President from 2008 to 2009, and also served as President from 2009 to 2010. Mr. Ramirez is currently President/CEO of RJI Ramirez Jimenez International CPAs, has served on over two dozen other philanthropic and business organizations, and is co-founder of Hispanic 100, an organization working to further the development of local, national and international Hispanic business and political leaders.
David Swartz, CPA
Mr. Swartz was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in May 2004. He serves on various CBA committees, held the office of Vice President from 2005 to 2006, and also served as President from 2006 to 2007. He previously served as senior partner of Good Swartz Brown & Berns, LLP. Mr. Swartz is currently a guest lecturer at several Southern California universities, and serves on the boards of several other charitable foundations.
