This Is The CBA

The California Board of Accountancy (CBA) was legislatively established in 1901 to oversee the accounting profession in the state of California. Our primary mission is to protect consumers, and we do this by ensuring only qualified licensees practice public accountancy in accordance with established professional standards.

These five videos highlight what the CBA is all about. We invite you to watch them to learn more about our consumer protection mission, why there’s great value to earning a CPA license, and how the accounting profession is so much more than just doing taxes. The videos also cover other topics that are important to us, such as the importance of lifelong learning and increasing diversity within the profession.

The CBA is made up of a 15-member board and a staff of nearly 100 individuals based in Sacramento dedicated to serving our stakeholders: the consumers, licensees, and applicants of the great state of California. Thank you for visiting our website, and we hope you enjoy the videos!
